Choosing the best glue for your paper craft projects is important. Too much glue can make your cards pucker and not enough glue can make your card fall apart! Here's our take on the best glue to use for card making.
Glue sticks are a great option to adhere light to regular cardstock together. It is recommended you choose glue specifically made for paper crafts. Apply the glue thinly so it doesn't get "chunky" and make your project lumpy. Allow the glue to dry before handling the card. If the adhesive doesn't hold, reapply a small amount of glue to the paper. If you continue to have problems with adhesion, try placing the card under a sizeable book for an hour or change the brand of glue you are using. This is our favorite glue to use when making cards.
Liquid craft glue is NOT recommended for adhering paper to paper. This glue should be reserved for adhering embellishments such as ribbons, flowers or beads to the card, and even then, it should be used very conservatively. It does take a bit longer for these glues to dry so make sure you have time to allow the glue to dry. An alternative glue for embellishments are glue dots or a hot glue gun.
Spray glue can be a bit messy (and you need a well ventilated space) but it is a viable option for gluing cards. We prefer to use spray craft bond glue when the card is too intricate to use a glue stick.
Double sided tape runners do a great job making cards - they're fast, no mess, and they hold well. The downside: they're expensive, hard to reposition and run out quickly.
Foam stickers are a great way to add a three dimensional flair to your cards.
There are many types of glue on the market, some of which are used widely for papercrafts. We like to try to keep things simple so you can enjoy making our projects with supplies you likely already have in your home!
